EMDR Intensives

Deep Trauma Work, Concentrated Time

The Intensive Model

More time. Fewer interruptions. Deeper processing.

What Are EMDR Intensives?

EMDR intensives are concentrated, multi-hour therapy sessions that allow for sustained trauma reprocessing without the start-stop rhythm of weekly 50-minute appointments. In a standard session, time is spent grounding, opening the processing channel, doing the reprocessing work, and then closing safely, often just as the deepest material is becoming accessible.

Intensives eliminate that constraint. With extended time, your nervous system can move through complete processing cycles, reaching resolution on material that might take weeks or months to access in weekly therapy. The result is often a measurable shift in symptoms within a single session block.

This is not a shortcut. It is a different clinical format, one that respects the neuroscience of how trauma is stored and how reprocessing actually works when given adequate time.

Is This Right for You?

Who Intensives Are For

You experienced a single-incident trauma (accident, assault, medical event) and want targeted, efficient resolution.

You are high-functioning with schedule constraints that make weekly therapy difficult to sustain consistently.

You are an out-of-state client who wants to do concentrated work during a dedicated trip to Florida.

You have completed stabilization work and are ready for deeper reprocessing but plateau in weekly sessions.

You have been in weekly therapy and feel stuck, sensing that the 50-minute format is limiting your progress.

Formats & Investment

Focused Intensive

3 hours  ·  $450

A concentrated reprocessing session designed for targeted single-incident trauma or a clearly defined processing goal. Allows for complete EMDR cycles without the constraints of a 50-minute session.

Half-Day Intensive

4 hours  ·  $700

Extended processing time for clients working through layered trauma material or multiple related targets. Includes built-in resourcing breaks and integration time within the session block.

Full-Day Intensive

6 hours  ·  $1,200

A comprehensive single-day processing experience for clients who are stabilized and ready for deep, sustained reprocessing work. Structured with alternating processing and integration periods throughout the day.

Multi-Day Weekend Intensive

Custom  ·  By Application

A multi-day immersive experience designed for out-of-state clients or those seeking an accelerated processing timeline. Custom-structured based on clinical assessment. Pricing and scheduling determined through a dedicated application process.

The Process

What to Expect

Pre-Intensive Assessment

Before your intensive, a comprehensive clinical assessment determines your readiness, identifies target material, and ensures your nervous system is stabilized enough for sustained processing. This is included in your intensive investment.

The Intensive Session

The intensive itself is structured with alternating periods of active EMDR reprocessing and resourcing breaks. Your clinician monitors your window of tolerance throughout, pacing the work to ensure integration rather than overwhelm.

Post-Intensive Integration

After your intensive, a follow-up integration session helps you consolidate the processing, address any residual activation, and plan next steps. This session is included in your intensive investment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About EMDR Intensives

What is an EMDR intensive?

An EMDR intensive is a concentrated, multi-hour therapy session that allows sustained trauma reprocessing without the start-stop rhythm of weekly 50-minute appointments. In a standard session, much of the time goes to grounding, opening the processing channel, doing the work, and closing safely, often just as the deepest material becomes accessible. Intensives remove that constraint. With extended time, your nervous system can move through complete EMDR reprocessing cycles and reach resolution on material that might take weeks or months to access weekly. It is not a shortcut. It is a different clinical format that respects how trauma is stored and how reprocessing works when given adequate time.

How is an EMDR intensive different from weekly therapy?

Weekly therapy processes trauma in 50-minute blocks, which means you often open important material and then have to close before it fully resolves. An intensive gives your nervous system enough continuous time to complete processing cycles in one sitting, so shifts that might take weeks can happen within a single session block. Intensives use alternating periods of active EMDR reprocessing and resourcing breaks, with your clinician tracking your window of tolerance throughout. Many clients pair intensives with ongoing weekly work. Intensives are best once you are stabilized and ready for deeper reprocessing, especially if the weekly format has felt limiting.

Who are EMDR intensives a good fit for?

Intensives suit several situations. You may have a single-incident trauma such as an accident, assault, or medical event and want targeted, efficient resolution. You may be high-functioning with a schedule that makes consistent weekly therapy hard to sustain. You may be an out-of-state client who wants concentrated work during a dedicated trip to Florida. Or you may have completed stabilization and feel ready for deeper reprocessing but keep plateauing in weekly sessions. A pre-intensive clinical assessment confirms your readiness and identifies target material, so the format is matched to your presentation rather than assumed.

Can I do EMDR intensives virtually in Florida or another state?

Yes. EMDR intensives are available in person at our Coral Gables office and via telehealth. Where you live determines eligibility, since therapists are licensed by state. Dr. Aday is licensed in Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and New Mexico, so virtual intensives are available to residents of those five states. Many out-of-state clients also travel to Coral Gables for a dedicated in-person intensive or multi-day weekend format. During your inquiry we assess readiness and recommend whether in-person or virtual best supports the depth of work you are seeking.

What formats and lengths of intensives do you offer?

We offer several formats. A Focused Intensive is 3 hours at 450 dollars, designed for targeted single-incident trauma or a clearly defined goal. A Half-Day Intensive is 4 hours at 700 dollars for layered material or multiple related targets, with built-in resourcing breaks. A Full-Day Intensive is 6 hours at 1,200 dollars for stabilized clients ready for deep, sustained work, structured with alternating processing and integration. A Multi-Day Weekend Intensive is custom and by application, built for out-of-state clients or accelerated timelines. Pre-intensive assessment and post-intensive integration are included in your intensive investment.

What does the intensive process actually look like?

It has three parts. First, a pre-intensive clinical assessment determines your readiness, identifies target material, and confirms your nervous system is stabilized enough for sustained processing. Second, the intensive itself alternates active EMDR reprocessing with resourcing breaks, while your clinician monitors your window of tolerance to keep the work integrative rather than overwhelming. Third, a post-intensive integration session helps you consolidate the processing, address any residual activation, and plan next steps. The assessment and integration sessions are both included in your intensive investment, so the concentrated work is supported before and after.
